Dance Practices

The members of the Pacific Islanders Club perform for many different occasions on and off campus so we hold dance practices to prepare as well as to educate about our culture. We do dances from various places such as Samoa, Hawaii, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Marquesas, Tonga, Fiji, etc. We will teach anyone who is willing. Don't be shy... most of our dancers are first timers.

Workshops

We hold a variety of different workshops to educate others about the Pacific Islander community on campus. Topics that have been discussed in past workshops were Polynesian tattoos, Island dances, food of the Pacific, etc.

Dad's Weekend Pacific Islander Cultural Exhibition

Our greatest event! We provide live music, live performances and an all-you-can-eat buffet of delicious Polynesian cuisine. This is a family friendly and entertaining cultural event hosted by our organization every year during Dad's Weekend. This year, we will be hosting the event at the CUB Ballroom.

Christmas Banquet

Before Christmas Break, PIC hosts banquet to celebrate the end of the first semester and to honor those of us graduating in the Fall. We present awards to those who have worked hard to support our Cultural Exhibition, play the DVD of the Cultural Exhibition and show a slideshow to remember the good time.

P.I.E.R.

Pacific Islander Educational Recruitment (P.I.E.R.) is an effort by our organization to persuade more Pacific Islanders to pursue a college education. It usually happens during a weekend in the Spring when interested members of the club take a trip to different high schools to present their experiences with college and address issues that might keep high school students from pursuing a college degree.

Spokane Trip

Every Spring, the paid members of the club take a trip to Spokane where we have all sorts of fun. The itinerary may include activities such as laser tag, staying over at a hotel, bowling, eating at a buffet, etc.
