Page Content

Content formatting and organization should provide visitors with a positive experience when viewing your website.

Headers and page Titles

  • A page title should appear on every page.
  • Page titles should be related and meaningful to the content on the page.
  • The format of page titles should be consistent in size and color across pages.
  • Page Titles and headers should contrast in size or color from the other text on the page.
  • Organizing page content by use of headers can help users find information more efficiently.

Text Size & Color

  • Text color should be consistent across all pages of the website.
  • Bright or colorful text should be used sparingly to highlight brief and important information.
  • Reducing text size below 12px can make reading difficult for visitors with poor eyesight.
  • Larger text sizes should be reserved for headers or page titles and not for main content text.
  • Choose a font that is easy to read and understand.

Organization

  • Most users prefer to skim and won't read long paragraphs.  Present information in a logical and organized manner suitable for skimming.
  • Organizing page content by use of headers can help users find information more efficiently.
  • Avoid creating pages that make it necessary for visitors to scroll very far.
  • Ensure that the most important information resides at the top of the page.
  • Spell check.  Misspelled words and poor grammar can impact your group's credibility in a negative way.
