Supporting Sisters
The Psi Chapter of GWIS has a vast support network that allows us to encourage, support, and mentor women in science at all levels. Here are some of our Supporting Sisters:

Association for Faculty Women (AFW) is an organization dedicated to an equitable, collegial environment for all university faculty. Each year AFW awards Outstanding Women in Graduate Studies. These awards recognize superlative academic and scholarly accomplishments, as well as professional potential of women graduate students at WSU completing their degrees each academic year. The AFW Harriett B. Rigas Award is presented to a doctoral student, and the AFW Founders Award is presented to a master's level student.
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the oldest national professional engineering society, founded in 1852 by twelve engineers in New York City. Each year the WSU Chapter visits Sunnyside Elementary School on Science Career Day in the Spring to introduce its students to civil engineering through planned activities.
The National Girls Collaborative Project provides opportunities and funding for to benefit collaboration with other girl-serving projects, organizations and institutions, and tools to assess and evaluate the impact of their efforts, especially for facilitating gender equity in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The National Education of Women's (NEW) Leadership Inland Northwest Program is a residential summer institute designed to empower college women to become involved in the political process. The influence of politically saavy women on science policy and advocacy cannot be understated. Get Involved! The 2008 program will be held June 19-22 in Pullman, WA. Psi Chi is the Honor Society for the discipline of Psychology. We collaborate with Psi Chi for Brain Awareness Week Activities each March, and are currently working with Psi Chi in the Women in Neuroscience Program (WIN) through the Palouse Discovery Science Center.
SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science)
The Viticulture and Enology Club is assisting us with our 2nd Annual Sensory Analysis of Wine Tasting and Recognition Event on March 28, 2008.
