AWIS Multicultural Undergraduate Internship Program (DUE MARCH 31, 2008)
AWIS is now accepting applications for the 2008 Multicultural Undergrad Internship Program. "In order to increase diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the Association for Women in Science is offering summer internships in Washington D.C. for female undergraduate students who are members of typically underrepresented ethnic groups in the STEM disciplines: individuals of African American, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent."

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS
Graduate Women in Science Fellowships - Due Jan 15th (must be a member to apply for some awards -- membership has its benefits!!)
For the SDE, Eloise Gerry, and Vessa Notchev Fellowships, awards are for research in all the natural sciences, including: physical, environmental, mathematical, computer, life sciences, anthropology, psychology and statistics. For the Nell I. Mondy Fellowships, awards are for research in the same areas as for the other Fellowships, with preference given to applications in the areas of food science, nutrition, and toxicology. The winner of the Nell I. Mondy Fellowship must be a member of SDE/GWIS.
Association for Women In Science (AWIS) PREDOCTORAL AWARD - Due Jan 24th, 2008 (amount varies)
The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Predoctoral Award is available to females enrolled in Ph.D. programs in the natural or social sciences who expect to completed their Ph.D. by June 2010. You must be studying: astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer and information science, engineering, geoscience, mathematics, physics, psychology, anthropology, archaeology, demography, economics, geography, history of science, linguistics, philosophy of science, political science or sociology. Two letters of recommendation are also required.
WSU Florence G. Handy Endowed Scholarship - Due Jan 31, 2008 (amount varies)
The Florence George Handy Endowed Scholarship is open to female undergraduate and graduate students at Washington State University. You must be enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts to be considered for this award.
Scott Mesh Scholarship in Psychology -- Due May 16, 2008 ($1,500)
This $1,500 scholarship named in the honor of Scott Mesh as appreciation for his initial work in launching APAGS is intended to support dissertation research leading to a doctoral degree in the field of psychology. Open to members of the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students.

The Women in Science Award of the Maria Mitchell Association -- postmarked by March 15, 2008
The Women in Science Award of the Maria Mitchell Association will recognize an individual who hasworked to increase the participation and advancement of girls and/or women in science and mathematics.
To be considered for the Maria Mitchell Women in Science Award an individual must:
- Demonstrate consistent leadership and support for the advancement of girls and women in the fields of natural and physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, computer science or technology or
- Be someone who served as a mentor, role model or key player in a program designed specifically to encourage and advance girls and women in the fields of science, mathematics and technology
- Be a United States citizen.
