Executive Committee:
The President acts as the executive director of the Executive Council. She is the ex-officio member of all committees. The President creates the meeting agendas and acts as Chair and facilitator of these meetings. She acts as an alternate authorized “signer” of the RSO GWIS bank account, and can authorize the withdrawal of funds from the GWIS bank account for payment of obligations incurred by the chapter as the Executive Committee approves. The President sends the Annual Report to the National Membership Secretary every May.
The Vice President assists the President with all duties and jobs as needed. In the absence of the President, the VP assumes all her duties and obligations. The VP also acts as the Chairperson of the Membership Committee.
The Secretary acts as the recording and correspondence secretary. She takes minutes at all business and open meetings. In addition, she sends a list of the new members to the National Office promptly after the induction meeting. The Secretary also assists a member who moves to another area and wishes to transfer to another chapter by forwarding a copy of the data card and the completed transfer form to the new chapter. Following chapter elections in April, the Secretary sends the names, addresses and telephone numbers of newly elected chapter officers to the National Secretary.
The Treasurer is authorized to withdraw money from the RSO GWIS bank account (treasury) for the payment of financial obligations incurred by the chapter. She keeps a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures and makes a full report at each annual business meeting and upon request at other meetings. The Treasure receives chapter dues each April during the Spring Membership Drive, as well as from new members during the rest of the year.
The Liaison Officer acts as a connection between the Psi Chapter and the community we serve, other organizations on campus (especially those that promote women), and the National GWIS Organization. She works for effective participation of chapter members in the business of the National Organization, seeking out capable members who may be recommended for national office or for national committees. The Liaison Officer is the chapter consultant on the National Constitution and Bylaws, and if possible, attends the Annual Grand Chapter meeting (summer) and assists the chapter president in obtaining chapter delegates to Grand Chapter.
